This hand-painted Tom Clark “Pilgrim” figurine was designed in 1988 and produced at Cairn Studio in Jacksonville, North Carolina, with this example bearing a studio label dated May 24, 1991. Tom Clark was renowned for his narrative gnome figures, blending American folk art traditions with literary and historical themes. Pilgrim reflects that storytelling approach, depicting a contemplative traveler rendered with expressive facial detail, textured cloak, and symbolic book in hand. Pieces like this were individually cast, painted, and signed, making each example slightly unique. Well suited for traditional, Americana, English country, and collected eclectic interiors, this figure remains one of Clark’s more evocative character studies.
